Mahdokht Mahmoudabadi is a New York–based documentary editor originally from Iran, specializing in archival-driven storytelling. She is drawn to projects that foreground underrepresented histories and voices, bringing a sharp editorial sensibility and a distinct cultural perspective to each film. A classically trained musician, she approaches editing with emotional intuition and structural rigor, crafting narratives that are both precise and deeply resonant.

Her recent feature documentary The Encampments received a Special Mention Award at CPH:DOX and enjoyed successful theatrical runs in the U.S. and internationally. Her latest film, Graft Versus Hosts, will have its world premiere at the 2026 Berlinale and is part of the festival’s Shorts Competition. She is also a 2025 Berlinale Talents participant, selected for the Edit Studio. Mahdokht has contributed to multiple Emmy-nominated and Emmy-winning documentaries, including Turning Point (Netflix) and the Emmy-winning The Man Who Feeds Gaza’s Children (Business Insider).
